This is Nimby by Doghead. It comes from the 80s acronym Not In My Backyard. The 80s were a time of elitism and snobbery. This was taken into the 90s with a thin veneer of goodness, but the selfishness of the 80s did not disappear. We just became used to it and made it a part of our lives. This is extended to take in the fact that individuals have become alienated from those around them, how society impacts the way we think and act and how government invades our life to the point where it can even lead to suicide (The Scientist). We no longer want to be involved with eacother and this is started even in our children (Know Me). I am no great musician, but I know words and what they do and I understand the emotion of a note.
